Welcome to "The Genius Of The Gents", a website dedicated to the outstanding acting and writing talents of Reece Shearsmith, Steve Pemberton, Mark Gatiss and Jeremy Dyson, who are The League of Gentlemen. The League is a sketch-based sitcom shown on originally on BBC1, and also, more recently, on Play UK on Cable and Sky. The show is based in the fictitious town of Royston Vasey (filmed in Hadfield), and describes the lives of over 60 different characters. The sketches are linked by loose story lines, and often show gruesome and hideous yet hilariously funny aspects of life in a small town. The outrageous yet sometimes amazingly real characters are weird, twisted, touching and above all, highly amusing, and it is this unusual mixture of mild horror and humour which adds to the success the Gents have already encountered, and that which they will undoubtedly continue to encounter. Dear all,
With regard to unofficial websites, the truth of the matter is The League of Gentlemen are very enthusiastic about all the websites and the fans who run them. We have in fact decided not to have an official website of our own simply because the unofficial ones do such an excellent job. The irony is we were on the point of giving a blanket "blessing" to all unofficial sites when this present difficulty arose. For the record, we are delighted to have such loyal, friendly and dedicated fans, and any statements to the contrary are nothing more than Chinese whispers and idle gossip.
